YOUTH CAMP MEETINGS

REPORT ON YOUTH CAMP MEETING
MAFIKENG NORTH WEST PROVINCE

THEME: ARISE & SHINE 2008 CAMP MEETING – LOTLHAKANE VILLAGE

BACKGROUND SCRIPTURES
Matthew 9:35-38 NIV
35 Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field."

Matthew 28:18-20 NIV
18 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Mark 16:15-20 NIV
15 He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well." 19 After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God. 20 Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it.

The Ever – increasing Faith Church had seven (7) days outreach evangelism (open air) at the Lotlhakane village of healing, miracles, signs and wonders. Souls were led to Christ and many were healed and delivered. Honourable Kgosi G.A. Seatlholo was informed by many villagers who experienced the hand of God upon their lives through the anointed man of God; Bishop Frank Ogagba that they want his seven days meeting extended and she replied that she had no power to do that since the man of God asked for seven days.

After the said period, Kgosi met the man of God, who led her to Christ and at that moment she received healing. Since then Kgosi was motivated to know the ways of God. Both Kgosi and her council suggested the youth programme to the man of God since June is a national youth month.

INTRODUCTION

Ever-increasing Faith Church under the leadership of Bishop Frank Idemudia Ogagba and Barolong Boo-Rapulana Traditional Council led by Honourable Kgosi, Mrs G.A. Seatlholo as the host; organized the Youth camp meeting from the 27th - 29th June 2008; held at the Lotlhakane village – Z . M. Seatlholo High School Grounds.

On Friday evening, the 27th of June 2008, the youth had an opportunity to participate and went out to spread the good news about Jesus Christ our Lord.

The 28th June 2008, youth came in their numbers from all the surrounding villages and towns and were empowered.

The topics that were deliberated upon ranged from the following:-
Youth and Crime
Drugs & their effects
Career Guidance
Teenage Pregnancies
HIV and AIDS / STD’S / Prevention
Single Parenting
Power of Relationships

We had amongst speakers, Captain Mothibi of Lomanyaneng Police Station, who at length spoke to the youth about crime and gave them ways on how to stay out of it.

Mr Seliki Tlhabane from the North West Department of Education challenged the youth to have a broader picture of themselves in ten years to come (youth development, and career guidance). This, indeed, worked wonders as they pictured themselves as engineers, doctors, pilots and even becoming future presidents.

Ms Dineo, also, gave an encouraging lecture on teenage pregnancy, HIV and AIDS for the youth to take care of themselves to avoid falling victims of these pandemic diseases and peer pressure.

The Executive Mayor of Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality – Mr Themba Gwabeni donated a 1000 seater tent and chairs for the success of the camp, and he addressed the youth, and related his upbringing to them. This was quite an emotional story as the youth got to realize that, coming from small beginning needed not to be an impediment to one’s success. Listening to the speech; of a little boy who used to walk long distances, bare footed, through rainy days and cold weathers to Seleri Primary School in Dithakong village came out a giant like the Executive Mayor. The youth were challenged not to focus their eyes on circumstances they will be going through in life.

1 Peter 5:6 KJV “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God,
that He may exalt you in due time”.

Job 8:7 NIV “Your beginnings will seem humble,
so prosperous will your future be”.

Both the youth and community were challenged to arise and use whatever means to make a difference in their lives.

We also, had in our presence a member from National Parliament in Cape Town – Senator Ms Lolo Mashiane.

Ms E M. Tlhoaele from the House of Traditional Leaders in the Province – who donated popcorns prepared by her for the children. The children indeed enjoyed themselves after service.

REFRESHMENTS
Meals were freely served to all by an arranged catering department for the three days of camp meetings.

Acts 2:42-47 NIV
42 They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
